Huge alliance between Sprint and Clearwire to roll out national WiMax. They anticipate 120-150 mil by 2010. Investors include Intel Corp., Google Inc., Comcast Corp., Time Warner Cable Inc. and Bright House Networks. Do we think they will buy small WiMax companies or will they just put them out of business?

Apple Links Higher Sales with Higher Prices

APPLE INC(NasdaqGS: AAPL) proves that even in today’s battered economy ”innovation and marketing—creating unique products that customers want—trump price elasticity with consumers.”

The fact that the company does not have to lower prices to drive increased net sales is very positive for its future as competitors such as DELL INC (NasdaqGS:DELL)drop prices.

At nearly $186 per share, AmTech Research upgraded their stance on the stock from a “neutral” to a “buy” rating on 5/05. It’s a little rich for my blood at current levels, but worth another look if you have the money and are on the same page as Caris & Company analyst Shebly Seyrafi.

On Tuesday, Seyrafi restated his “Above Average” rating on Apple Inc. (AAPL) as well as his price target, from $170 to $200.

Cablevision to launch wireless broadband network. Cablevision said it has been testing the service, which will have speeds up to 1.5 megabits per second, comparable to traditional wireless networks, in small areas across its 3.1 million-strong customer base.

Cable companies have been investigating ways to extend their video, Internet access and phone services beyond their traditional cable operations with a wireless strategy in a bid to fight off competition from phone companies’ wireless services.

This follows their finalization of the acquisition of the Sundance Network.

Looks like the battle for the WiMax user has begun

IT Spending Remains Solid

IDC says tech spending on track, but US slowdown showing up in other parts of the world

IDC stated the expectation today that overall IT spending will grow about 4 percent in the U.S. this year, down from 6 percent growth last year.

In addition, Gartner Inc.,stated today that “worldwide IT services revenue grew 10.5 percent in 2007, to $748 billion”.

“This strong growth, combined with strong first-quarter results for market leaders, runs counter to the gloomy and widespread economic concerns arising in the United States,” said Kathryn Hale, research vice president for Gartner’s worldwide IT services group, in a statement.

Read a good quote the other day. Puts the whole “Global” economy into perspective.

“The US sneezes and the whole world catches pneumonia”

I know technology is going to grow, grow, grow. That’s how it’s always been, but the stocks currently are very expensive! I think it’s the idea of getting in on the ground level with new, innovative companies. There is a lot of discussion of the new energy technology companies right here on this site It’s a great place to start.

Too bad the maker of that wireless device, Wildcharge, is a private company. :(

I am not sure if this is getting a bit off topic or not, but these new technologies on this site are incredible. “The future is here.”

The hologram technology looks very promising for entertainment and also maybe for 3-D models of buildings or three dimensional maps for the army maybe.
